With the arrival of a new set of chickens to join our original brood, we thought our girls were overdue an upgrade for their cottage!
The girls now have their own luxury accommodation in the form of two Omlet Eglu Pro coops. These are great. The wheels mean the coops can be moved around easily and while the photos show one of them mid-build, they will both have fully secure runs attached.
Our chickens get thew whole run of the paddock usually, but the secure run attached to the house means that the automatic door can open for them in the morning allowing them more space before we let them have full reign.
The coops are also more environmentally friendly (and easier to maintain!) than traditional coops as they don’t require sawdust and can be cleaned out with a hosepipe - much more hygienic than wood!
Chickens can get mites when they live in wooden coops, but these new ones being plastic means that there is no wood grain for the mites to hide in - so much better for the chickens health as well.
Easy access to the egg boxes also means it’ll be easier than ever for our smallest guests to collect the eggs during the chicken feeding session with Jacqui!
