There’s no need to leave your trusted friend behind, when you can bring your horse on your holiday to Greenwood Grange.
We provide a lovely on site paddock and field shelter with exclusive use for two horses and plenty of safe on site parking for your horse box.
You’ll find great bridle paths directly from Greenwood Grange into nearby Puddletown forest, where there are lots of tracks to explore. We can also offer accompanied hacks with an experienced local rider (at extra cost).
A quick hack across fields will also give you access to Kingston Maurward College and the Equestrian Centre, a great venue for watching dressage and show jumping events – and it’s somewhere that you can also take part.
We would be pleased to advise on these and many other rides in our corner of rural Dorset. In the meantime, see some recommended hacking routes below.
Puddletown Forest
This is an attractive, large and varied woodland with options for short and long circular walks along its network of bridleways. The forest is extremely diverse in its fauna and flora, with trees ranging from oak to elm and a huge range of wildlife. Expect some heathland areas and some lovely extensive views across the countryside.
There are various circular rides in the forest to enjoy including these two:
The River Track – Lower Bockhampton
Head towards Lower Bockhampton over the first bridge and immediately you will see a signpost on the right which will take you onto the path that runs parallel to the river. This ride from Greenwood Grange has beautiful views.
Kingston Maurward – Via Fields
From Greenwood Grange at the top of the hill you will see a signpost on your right, proceed through the gate and follow the Bridle path signs to Kingston Maurward and Stinsford. This will take you across fields and leads you onto the path along the River.
